Hi Sheree, it’s Briana (summer 24 intern). I hope all is well! I’m currently reading your book, Real Talk, you gifted me, and I will say every chapter continues to inspire the leader in me. Your resilience, courage, and determination are truly encouraging.

I know in my heart that your inner child is very proud of the woman you’ve become despite the many obstacles you’ve faced along the way. Your book felt as if I was listening to your story face-to-face. It’s personal and so alive for its readers. Adding in the stories of your monthly speakers granted me more of an insight to why you’ve chosen to bring them into the programs. I can see how much you value every individual’s position/role in the programs I can. You truly do it for the kids that wish!

“Hello Ms. Sheree,

My name is Valentina, I’m a student here in Clark . . . This is a whole new place for me. When I first came here, I didn’t think there would be someone that could understand me, and not only listen to me, but get it. When I was in my country, we used to have a lot of problems with money, with our surroundings, with security, but now that I’m here, I know that my life is going to a different place. And that, whatever gift that God gave me is going to mean something in my life. I thank you for sharing with us your brother’s loss, and for being vulnerable and strong about it. I thank you for telling us that we cannot change certain things in life, but we can choose what we are going to do about it. Thank you for keeping talking with young people, telling us that we matter, and that we have a purpose. I will always remember that I had the pleasure to listen to you, and I thank you for showing us to seize the moment.

“Thank you for coming to speak to our class to educate our class, especially letting the freshmen know what not to do. Although I know most might [have] not seen it as an opportunity, I’m glad you came. I appreciate you for being a positive role model for our community, Also thankful you took the time out of your day to speak to us. Hope you can come again next year to speak to more of our Clark students.

“I knew from the moment I first met you and attended a networking event of yours, that you were a person of significance. Your mission and values heavily align with what I believe to be true about life, perseverance and grace.

Though I met you through work, the purpose in our connection hit me on such a deep level. I didn’t know how or why but I knew you were someone to look up to, be inspired by and to support in your divine endeavors. After a while, I noticed I not only attended the monthly change one meetings for work, but for myself, mental health and well-being. As I’ve expressed with others, attending your program is like going to church. Filled with testimony, passion, love for life, embracing the purpose and the gift in being disciplined.

God has done his work on you but best believe YOU have done the work that mirrors the efforts of Spirit. It’s so beautiful to see and witness. I pray you continue to be guided, protected and loved on. Thank you for being authentic and for being an incredible role model for myself and so many others.

As I’ve been witnessing your greatness, I’ve been blessed with the vision to see myself reflected in you. You’ve helped me see myself in ways that not a lot of people have been able to do.

I’ve always been the overachiever, striving for more, putting in the work to be the best version of myself and in the process, it’s gotten lonely. I’ve prayed for a mentor and angel in the flesh to guide me into these uncharted territories…places no one in my family has gone…and it’s so refreshing to be able to see my reflection in a black woman doing her thing while living in her truth…being unapologetically YOU.”

“Thank you again for coming! You’ve made such a meaningful impact on my life. You’re an amazing and inspiring person, and I’m eternally grateful to have had you not only as a coach but also as someone who feels like a second mom to me.”

“You were such a big supporter for me growing up and i will never forget that you pushed me to be better.”
